Israel's European Championship soccer qualifier postponed
UEFA Postpones Israel's Game in Kosovo in European Qualifying
UEFA has postponed Israel's European Championship qualifying game against Kosovo due to travel restrictions imposed by the Israeli authorities.
The game, which was scheduled to take place in Pristina, cannot be played because the Israeli national team is currently not allowed to travel abroad.
This decision adds to the fixture backlog in the qualifying group, where Israel is competing with Switzerland and Romania for the top-two spots.
Two teams will advance to the Euro 2024 tournament in Germany.
As a result of the postponement, Israel is now two games behind schedule.
Their game against group leader Switzerland, which was supposed to be played in Tel Aviv, has been rescheduled for November 15th.
However, it remains uncertain if Israel will be able to safely host games.
Additionally, Israel is now set to play three Euro 2024 qualifiers in the one-week international break next month, which was originally designed for just two games.
The delayed game between Kosovo and Israel could potentially impact the qualifying playoffs draw, which is scheduled for November 23rd.
Regardless of their position in the qualifying group, Israel will still have the opportunity to participate in the playoffs due to their previous success in the Nations League.
Israel's national team has never played at the finals of a European Championship tournament.
Despite the challenges and uncertainties surrounding their qualifying campaign, they remain determined to secure a spot in Euro 2024.
